Harv 81 Group leads by example in sustainability
The certification confirms Harv 81 Group’s commitment to balancing profit with purpose, considering its impact on people, communities and the planet, and using business as a force for good.
Responsibility in wine extends indeed beyond consumption alone. A sustainable wine culture depends on responsible practices throughout the entire value chain. Harv 81 Group’s certification reflects the shared values of environmental care, social responsibility and long-term commitment that underpin a culture of wine based on respect, quality and moderation and thus Wine in Moderation as well.
“Our purpose has always gone beyond just business alone. We see sustainability as a duty to our teams, communities and the planet – creating long-term value for everyone,” says founder and President Jochen Michalski. “This certification is a recognition of the values that have shaped our group since its founding.”
Operating across five continents, the group integrates sustainability throughout its activities in cork closures, wooden capsules, spirits closures, barrels and wine maturation solutions (Cork Supply, Talis, Tonnellerie Ô and Creative Oak.).
According to Rui Pedro Silva, Sustainability Director, the certification strengthened existing practices:
“Many of our standards were already aligned with B Corp principles because of our long-standing sustainability strategy and quality systems, but we strengthened documentation, improved data tracking, and formalised several policies to meet the rigorous verification requirements. Rather than change who we are, the process helped us structure what we were already doing well, identify new opportunities for improvement and have more visibility of everything we are doing.”
