Educating future professionals: The science and responsibility behind wine consumption

Wine in Moderation partner, FIVIN (Fundación para la Investigación del Vino y la Nutrición), recently held an engaging Masterclass at the Osborne Foundation’s hospitality school. The event was designed to educate students and aspiring hospitality professionals on the principles of moderate and responsible wine consumption, a crucial topic for those entering the hospitality and wine service industries.

The training featured the participation of Dr. Sergio Montserrat, who provided insightful scientific evidence on the potential health effects of moderate wine consumption when integrated into a balanced diet and an active lifestyle. Dr. Montserrat emphasised the importance of understanding both the potential positive effects and the risks, highlighting the consequences of alcohol misuse and abuse. His talk served as a valuable reminder that responsible consumption is key to enjoying wine as part of a balanced lifestyle.

The session aimed not only to inform but also to empower students with the knowledge and communication tools needed to confidently advise their future customers. By understanding the science and context behind moderate wine consumption, these future professionals will be better equipped to promote a culture of responsibility and appreciation around wine, reinforcing the values promoted by Wine in Moderation.
