The Wine in Moderation community celebrates Wine in Moderation Day 2025

Wine in Moderation Day 2025 was marked with energy, collaboration, and a strong commitment to promoting moderation and a sustainable wine culture. Across the globe, members organised events, launched new initiatives, and engaged their communities in conversation about responsible and mindful wine consumption. Here’s a look at some of the highlights.

Italy: National launch of digital Responsible Service training
Responsible Service training was at the heart of Italy’s WiM Day celebrations. On 6 November, the country’s three WiM National Coordinators, Consorzio di Tutela del Prosecco DOC, FEDERVINI, and Unione Italiana Vini, joined forces for a special event dedicated to this key initiative, which promotes safe, moderate, and informed wine consumption.

The day opened with a press conference marking the national launch of the digital training tool, featuring an opening address by Sandro Sartor, President of Wine in Moderation. A panel discussion followed, bringing together representatives from Italian sommelier and HoReCa associations to highlight the vital role of responsible service in hospitality.

Germany: Expert talks & new digital training unveiled

The Deutsche Weinakademie, WiM National Coordinator in Germany, marked this important day on 12 November by bringing together more than 40 wine experts for a special gathering. Attendees enjoyed insightful presentations from Prof. Dr. Michael Klein, Dr. Claudia Hammer, and Eva Hennes.

Prof. Dr. Klein delivered an engaging lecture on addiction prevention, highlighting the potential role that moderate wine consumption may play in this context. Dr. Claudia Hammer offered an overview of current alcohol policy developments, while Eva Hennes unveiled the new Responsible Service training app—a digital learning platform featuring nine modules designed to equip wine professionals with the knowledge and skills to serve, present, and promote wine responsibly.

Spain: A new partnership to promote Responsible Service
On the occasion of Wine in Moderation Day, the Spanish Wine Federation (FEV) announced a new collaboration with The Wine Studio and The Human Studio, two leading institutions in wine education and professional wellness.
Through this partnership, The Wine Studio’s educational community will gain free access to the digital Wine in Moderation training on Responsible Service, which aims to empower professionals with the knowledge to promote responsible drinking practices among consumers.
Both institutions also committed to boosting the visibility of Wine in Moderation in their activities, promoting a sustainable wine culture rooted in moderation.
The agreement was signed by Eduardo de Diego, Vice President of Wine in Moderation and Communication Director at FEV, and Elisa Errea, Founder & CEO of The Wine Studio. Errea highlighted the importance of the initiative, saying:
“Supporting this training is a way to strengthen our commitment to a more professional, sustainable wine sector that truly cares about people. We are proud to bring this resource—endorsed by experts like Ian Harris, former CEO of WSET—to our students and partners.”

Chile: Culinary engages students on moderate wine consumption

Culinary, a leading Chilean institution in culinary and hospitality education and a enthusiastic supporter of Wine in Moderation, hosted an engaging session titled “A Scientific Look at Moderate Wine Consumption.” Led by an oenologist and a biochemist, the talk sparked lively questions and discussion among first- and second-year culinary arts students, as well as teachers involved in hospitality and service education.

WiM Day 2025 once again showcased the dedication of Wine in Moderation members and supporters worldwide. Through education, collaboration, and community engagement, the wine sector continues to promote moderation as an essential part of a sustainable, responsible, and deeply appreciated wine culture.
