As part of its ongoing commitment to promoting responsible wine consumption and sharing scientific knowledge, FIVIN recently held an educational seminar at CIPFP Camino de Santiago in La Rioja. The initiative was designed for hospitality students preparing to enter the restaurant and gastronomy sector—future professionals who will play a key role in shaping how wine is presented and enjoyed.
The seminar aimed to provide a well-rounded understanding of wine, combining its cultural, social, and gastronomic significance with evidence-based guidance on moderation, healthy lifestyle habits, and the risks linked to excessive consumption. All content was based on current scientific research and delivered with the support of experts in the field.
Organized in a hybrid format, the session brought together both in-person and online participants and was structured in two complementary parts:
Understanding wine and lifestyle
The first session, led by a medical expert from FIVIN’s scientific advisory team, explored the role of wine within a balanced lifestyle. Students were introduced to the latest scientific insights on moderate consumption, alongside practical guidelines for responsible drinking and a clear overview of the potential health risks associated with overconsumption. The session emphasized informed decision-making and the importance of moderation as part of professional responsibility.
From theory to practice
The second part of the seminar offered a hands-on tasting experience, allowing students to apply their knowledge in a practical setting. With the collaboration of Vinarchy Spain, S.A., participants were guided through a tasting focused on recognizing quality and understanding the sensory attributes of wine. This interactive component reinforced the connection between appreciation and responsible consumption.
Through initiatives like this, FIVIN continues to support the education of future hospitality professionals, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to promote a culture of moderation and informed enjoyment of wine.
